Comparison of Efficacy and Safety of Rosuvastatin Versus Atorvastatin, Simvastatin and Pravastatin Across Doses

To compare rosuvastatin with atorvastatin, simvastatin and pravastatin across dose ranges for reduction of lipid modifications.

N=2431; Patients with hypercholesterolemia (LDL ≥160 mg/dL and <250 mg/dL)

Patients were randomized to receive 1 of the 15 treatment options once-daily: Rosuvastatin 10, 20, 40 or 80 mg; Atorvastatin 10, 20, 40 or 80 mg; Simvastatin 10, 20, 40 or 80 mg and Pravastatin 10, 20 or 40 mg.

6 weeks

Rosuvastatin was superior in reducing LDL, total cholesterol, improving HDL and was similar or greater in reducing triglycerides.
