Aim

To evaluate the efficacy and safety Telmisartan in severe renal impairment

Study Patients

Hypertensive patients with various degrees of chronic kidney disease [N=80]

Study Groups

Telmisartan dose was uptitrated from 40 mg to 80 mg in 50% of the patients

Study Duration

12 weeks

Efficacy Endpoints

BP reduction in patients with renal impairment

Result

Telmisartan resulted in a very significant degree of double-digit BP lowering.
The graph shows the mean changes in BP in all the 3 categories of renal disease patients.

The DBP goal was achieved in 68% patient

Conclusion

Telmisartan can be effectively & safely used even in severe renal impairment
