IPCRG 2026: Prognostic Value of Inflammatory and Nutritional Biomarkers in Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: A Cross-Sectional Study

Presenter: Yu Wu

This study evaluated inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers as predictors of disease exacerbation in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

In 213 newly diagnosed patients, those requiring hospitalization within one year showed higher neutrophil‑to‑lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lower serum albumin, and lower prognostic nutritional index (PNI). Multivariable analysis identified NLR≥3.0, albumin≤35 g/L, and PNI≤45 as independent risk factors for exacerbation. A combined predictive model demonstrated good accuracy (AUC=0.82).

These findings suggest that integrating inflammatory and nutritional markers can effectively predict prognosis and help identify high‑risk IPF patients for closer monitoring and early intervention.
