Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is the major bacterial pathogen causing acute watery diarrhea in children from countries of the developing world. ETEC diarrhea induces changes in immune responses in children. Although, zinc supplementation has been thought to improve immunity, limited data is available on its effect on immune responses in children with diarrhea due to ETEC. Take a glance at findings of a study evaluating immunological effect of zinc on children with ETEC diarrhoea.
