Individuals with depression are at a higher risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), as per NHANES analysis of 14,492 adults. Depression increased OSA risk by 31% (OR 1.31), with the strongest effect observed in those without insomnia (OR 1.65). Major OSA predictors in depressed individuals included BMI, age, hypertension, sex, marital status, caffeine and alcohol consumption, and dietary fat.
