Depression is not uncommon in children, but, for many reasons, it often escapes diagnosis. Children are often unable to explain how they are feeling, especially when depressed. The problem for parents is that depression in children can be difficult to spot. If it does occur to them, parents may be reluctant to voice their fears and may find little practical information about depression in young children. This presentation provides useful information about identifying the symptoms and causes of depression in children and best possible ways to safeguard children from its ill-effects.
